By "fast forward" do you mean to play the file at something faster than
100%? Or do you mean skip to some spot in the file ahead of whare
you are currently?

AFAIK, the first is not supported.
I can skip to any spot in a file on my 5G ("Classic") using the
controls provided as described in the instructions, etc.
Presumably, all (most) versions of iPod support something
like this feature? Since you didn't say which model you have,
we can only dance around in the dark here.

Sorry for not specifying what model, my bad. I have an 80gb Classic, and I'm
looking to skip thru a podcast not just listen faster than 100%.

So while the file is playing, hit the center button and use the
wheel to go forward (or back). Isn't that how they all work?

I guess. I figured it out a day after I posted my original question. But it
would be nice if Apple took the time to print a set of instructions for
their stuff. Just too cheap I guess.
