Re: Delete Locked files in Windows XP - Cannot delete file: Access is denied

I posted this question, and I assure you it's not spam. And it's not an old post. I found this site yesterday and posted a legitimate question at that time.

Four of the folders -- in blue, indicating system folders? -- just say "update." One says "ppq19e.tmp," and the last has three main folders, "all users," "local service" & "network service," & each of these contains several subfolders. The folders are all empty, & they are all in blue.

I've tried Unlocker, Killbox, & several other tricks folks suggested. Nothing has worked. I haven't been able to rid myself of these empty folders, and I am hoping that one of you smart people can help me out.

And honestly, this is not spam.

Re: Delete Locked files in Windows XP - Cannot delete file: Access is denied

I have no record or memory of previously registering at this site. If I did, then I sure did forget. This is the only email address I would have registered from, so if I did, sorry for any confusion.

Re: Delete Locked files in Windows XP - Cannot delete file: Access is denied

As i said, in a previous post you said that you posted this question, i thought that you meant you originally posted the thread in 2006. haha

you DON'T have to leave this forum, because you DID NOT do anything wrong, it was just a misunderstanding, don't worry about it.

Re: Delete Locked files in Windows XP - Cannot delete file: Access is denied

Reboots are usually required to unlock some files...especially context menu handlers...try rebooting and deleting them (they may automatically get deleted during the reboot process).

Failing that, download and install Unlocker:

If the file isn't important and it isn't taking up too much space, why not just leave it alone?

Just curious.
