not anymore since they phased out modems.

it's a LOT of work to get it to work. You have to find a Voicemodem (not just any modem), then find a phone software compatible to the voicemodem (around $100-$200).

He could use Skype, but I don't think you can tie that to your landline, it's just another number, like having a cell phone computer.

Re: how to connect my landline to pc?

I am going to say you need a Modem. I think of Cable Modem as something different, because it is !!! You need a Dial Up Modem, then you need Dial Up S/W. Then you need to have patience, because it is slow.. I don't know if it is still available, but Netzero used to offer Dial Up for free. Then you need more patience, because it is slower.

There are still some of us that know what Dial UP means. I suspect our numbers are decreasing. In 10 years, mention "dial up" and people will be going, HUH, what's that?

This doesn't answer your "how to question".. If you really want to go "dial up", get the H/W and S/W and we can help you get connected..

Ah, excellent man, that made me laugh so hard.

But yeah, you need to get something like that. I know a security firm that may still use dialup to connect remotely to some places. Should check.
