Another malware and rootkit question... Sorry
Hi All,
I play World of Warcraft, both from Windows and Ubuntu. I basically use the same install of WoW on the Windows partition and play in Ubuntu because its a pain rebooting into Windows all the time. I haven't had any problems, and everything is working fine. I don't run any add-ons, nor have I installed any dodgy programs in Windows. I was wondering, If malware had been installed in WoW, would it work if just WoW was run through wine? What I mean is, would I be protected becuase the malware program would expect to be running on a windows box? I am just curious. In addition, for some reason, WoW frame rates drop drastically when I am in (I assume) high bandwidth areas, like a capitol city. This does not happen in Windows (If I am going to spend a lot of time in a city or I am playing PvP I will reboot into Windows), any ideas how I fix this? I guess its Wine, but don't want to complain as it preforms a stellar job! -- MCR MAME - History In The Making The answer is 42 dammit! |
