Open source alternative to PaperPort Office?

Is there a decent scanner and pdf manager with search, etc, for Linux?

What do you find wrong, or inaccurate, about that answer?

Its a document management system.
http://www.nuance.co.uk/paperport/

I use it to scan stuff to pdf and it indexes it for easy search (it does OCR
and stuff like that).
You can stack and unstack pages, etc. in the pdfs.
It works quite well.

However I would like to try and use a second scanner (LJ1220) I have under
Linux but I can't find anything remotely as good as paperport, however I am
not an expert at finding opensource software and there may be a suitable bit
of software that I can't find.
As there have been zero sensible responses I guess there isn't one, yet.
