Games on linux

Hi

i bought recently a laptop computer (Asus) and i installed a linux
distribution (Feisty) with dual boot with windows. i wanted to play with
some games (ie supertuxkart or planet penguin racer) but it is impossible
to play because my computer seems to not "support" with memory or CPU speed
to play these games. i don't understand why i cannot play. do i have a bad
configuration, lack of drivers (nvidia, 3D ...)

Please help me

Thanks

Clara

Yes, exactly. It's your graphics card. Since you don't mention what you
have, it's difficult to help. But you'll most likely need the
proprietary Nvidia or ATI drivers.

Try going to System ---> Administration ---> restricted drivers manager

Hope it helps.

I have to jump in and say how happy I am with the Intel Mobile chipset
that came with my Toshiba laptop. It may not be the fastest graphics
subsystem on the planet, but everything just works. All the GL
desktop stuff, games, you name it. No muss, no fuss.

Nothing there but VMWare stuff.

Preaching to the choir, baby. I've got Intel and every thing's great
here, too.

You have Feisty? That's where restricted drivers manager is on my
system. I'll have to check on another PC. If you have Feisty, it's there
somewhere, though. Look for it.

Nice, isn't it?

Yeah, Feisty... I meant that as far as restricted drivers went all I
have is the stuff for VMWare workstation. No crazy video modules or
anything. I think under 6.10 I had some restricted drivers for the
Intel wireless, but they're gone too after an upgrade. Everything's
"supported".

Dunno? Maybe because Intel's driver's aren't restricted (proprietary)
like Nvidia's or ATI. Hopefully folks, like the OP will have it listed
under the restricted manager to then update easily to get her 3d.

Should be for NVidia, I enabled that for my laptop (Geforce Go 7400) and
it works like a dream (except there's no zombies trying to sell me
tomatoes on sticks)
