Kompozer This is a "fork" of NVU (which you may also want to try out) but it promises better code than NVU and far better CSS support. It's good, but it is being actively developed and should get a lot better fairly quickly. -- Moog "Some mornings it just doesn't seem worth it to gnaw through the leather straps." |

On Fri, 24 Aug 2007 16:35:06 GMT, Chris Thompson expounded upon us
in alt.os.linux.ubuntu : Greetings, I use Eclipse with the Aptana HTML plugin. I use Eclipse for pretty much everything that I develope including JAVA, Perl, PHP as there are plugins that make it into a great IDE for nearly every language out there. -- PSK...feeling somewhat haunted. I hand code, but when I'm in a hurry or if I have a page that keeps getting added onto (requiring maintenance), I use txt2tags. It can be used via the command line (lightning fast!) or GUI, and it's actually quite fun to use. You do have to learn the markup language, but it's pretty easy compared to HTML, so doesn't take long to learn. It's also quite powerful in all the formats it can put out: * HTML document * XHTML document * SGML document * LaTeX document * Lout document * UNIX manual page (man) * MoinMoin page (wiki) * MagicPoint presentation (mgp) * PageMaker document It's available in the repositories, but you can take a look at it (and some samples) here: -- Little Girl There is no spoon. |

I use nedit. IMHO - a (more or less) wysiwyg html authoring package is overkill unless you're doing an extensive site. Nevertheless - the usual candidates would be: amaya, bluefish, quanta, screem, nvu, mozilla composer - and I think I probable left a few out. Be aware that they all generate bloated code. |
