Emulex LP9000 HBA abort target reset i/o

One of LP9000 Emulex HBAs is acting up. It has firmware level 3.82a1.
We are running Solaris 8 O.S. kernel 117350-39.
It goes to "abort" state almost every 10 mins, see below in
/var/adm/message file :

I tried to restart it again by running "Reset Adapter" option on lpfc5
at the lputil utility. lpfc5 took the reset OK and the link is up but
it came
right back down to "Abort" state after about 4 mins later. See below :

How do we find out whether the problem is in the HBA and/or the link ?
Are there commands one can run to fix or investigate further the issue
?
We want to make sure that the link on lpfc2 can stay up all the time.

Thanks for your help,

Bill
