On some Voyagers (very few and far between), youtube videos only play the first 29 seconds before stopping. If one calls Verizon CS and tell them about the problem, 5 minutes later the problem is solved. Now why would Verizon help people stream media onto their phones if it is against the TOS? |

If one calls Verizon CS and tell > them about the problem, 5 minutes later the problem is solved. > Why would it only run for 29 seconds in the first place? Why did Verizon CS have to make it work? From the panel under "voice and data plans" on TODAY's webpage: "DATA PLANS AND FEATURES Prohibited Uses. While most common uses for Internet are permitted by your Data Plan, there are certain uses that cause extreme network capacity issues and interference with the network. These are not uses intended by our Data Access plans and are therefore prohibited. Examples of prohibited uses include the following: (i) server devices or host computer applications, including, but not limited to, continuous Web camera posts or broadcasts, automatic data feeds, automated machine-to-machine connections or peer-to-peer (P2P) file-sharing; [Question - define automated machine-to-machine connections and automatic data feeds. FTP is an automated machine-to-machine connection. So isn't streaming! So isn't any VoIP connection. So isn't IRC, downloading from usenet.....or just about any other connection. Automated, of course, means you don't have to make the connection yourself, right? You have a CLIENT do that connection for you...automating it. Are we just screwing around with new wording to satisfy the Attorney General from NY State?] (ii) as a substitute or backup for private lines or dedicated data connections; [Someone wanted to use his VZW data plan to provide internet service to his house. This forbidden restriction has not changed. There it is.] (iii) "auto-responders," "cancel-bots," or similar automated or manual routines which generate excessive amounts of net traffic, or which disrupt net user groups or email use by others; [What the hell is an "auto-responder"? Any program that responds when called? Any VoIP, Orb, remote desktop applications, remote networking to your computer from your laptop? Those are all "auto-responders". Noone has to push a button if you're running some kind of remote desktop to get your email from the office....auto-responding to your call.] (iv) "spam" or unsolicited commercial or bulk email (or activities that have the effect of facilitating unsolicited commercial email or unsolicited bulk email); [Hey! Somebody screwed up! This one is in English!] (v) any activity that adversely affects the ability of other people or systems to use either Verizon Wireless Services or other parties' Internet-based resources, including "denial of service" (DoS) attacks against another network host or individual user; [OK...great. No obfuscation here at all.] (vi) accessing, or attempting to access without authority, the accounts of others, or to penetrate, or attempt to penetrate, security measures of Verizon Wireless' or another entity's network or systems; or [No trying to hack into your cellphone, either!] (vii) software or other devices that maintain continuous active Internet connections when a computer's connection would otherwise be idle or any "keep alive" functions, unless they adhere to Verizon Wireless' data retry requirements, which may be changed from time to time. This means, by way of example only, that using these Data Plans or Features for P2P file-sharing services, web broadcasting, or for the operation of servers, telemetry devices and/or Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition devices is prohibited. Of course, we don't say WHAT THOSE REQUIREMENTS ARE...which may change from today to tomorrow. If usage exceeds 5 GB per line during any billing period, we reserve the right to reduce throughput speeds of any application that would otherwise exceed such speed to a maximum of approximately 200 Kbps. These speeds are subject to change, in our reasonable discretion, in order to address network issues. In order to assess your usage, you may obtain information about your usage during a particular billing period, including during the Return Period under your Worry Free Guarantee, through My Account or by contacting Customer Service. These Data Plans or Features are for individual use only and not for resale. We further reserve the right to take measures to protect our network from harm, compromised capacity or degradation in performance, any of which may impact permitted data flows. Accordingly, we reserve the right to deny, modify or terminate service, without notice, to anyone we believe is using Data Plans or Features in any manner that adversely impacts our network or service levels, and we also reserve the right to terminate service upon expiration of the Customer Agreement term. We may, but are not required to, monitor your compliance, or the compliance of other subscribers, with the terms, conditions, or policies of the Customer Agreement." END OF QUOTED TEXT------------------------------------- Vague...very vague. They did soften it a lot, though! They made it even more vague, except for the 5GB limit. Now, back on the webpage ABOVE the legalese wording window it says, same as always: ---------------------------------------------------------------- Monthly Anytime Minutes Monthly Access Per-Minute Rate After Allowance Plan Includes for Internet access & email Minutes $59.99 Other data services (Quick 2 Netsm dial-up connections) at $0.25 per minute. * Data access for Internet browsing, email, or Intranet access ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ ------------------------------------------------------------------ Isn't this what it has always said after "unlimited" in bigger letters? IT SAYS IT'S FOR INTERNET BROWSING, EMAIL OR INTRANET ACCESS.....and nothing else? It doesn't say it's for streaming, it says it's for email and web browsing, infering it's for nothing else. My quoted text isn't formatted like the webpage html. But that's exactly what it says.... From what I heard, Verizon plans to send an over-the-air update to all Voyagers in the next few days to fix this problem |

@registered.motzarella.org: > Actually, turns out it was an Error that LG is to blame with the > multimedia player. > There's lots of errors in media players in phones. The most frustrating thing in my stupid MotoROKR Z6M is the MP3 player is so stupid it can't be told to just look at the external memory card ONLY, so in random play it plays MP3 ringtones from the INTERNAL memory. You'd think the stupid asses were dealing with new technology, not an MP3 player. Brew....sucks! You may quote me.
