AT&T service / IPhone

I am a long time-user of Verizon. Quite a few years ago, I switched from
AT&T to Verizon because of AT&T's horrible service. However, I would like
very much to get an IPhone. Question is, how good or bad is AT&T service? I
live in lower Westchester County, NY, around 25 miles north of ground zero.
Could anyone in the NYC metro areas, and suburbs, especially the White
Plains area, give me some feedback on AT&T service quality and coverage?
