Help IMTOO DVD to PSP crashes my computer

Hi everyone - this is my first post because I have just spent days and weeks trying to sort out this problem with my computer and IMTOO DVD to PSP (version 4). At first when loaded I had no problems - I was able to rip to my hearts content but then it seems to me at least that after one of Microsofts updates (I am suspecting the malware software it has) all of a sudden I could start to rip a dvd but then after 1 to 15 minutes my computer crashed and then it took forever for it to load up again - start to load then crash. When I ran Sophos antivirus which is permanently on - it said I had a malware virus which I removed. But everytime I tried to rip a dvd my compute crashed and it was getting harder and harder for it to fully load afterwards. Finally thinking I still had the virus I reformatted my computer's hard disk and reloaded all my software again. Guess what my computer still crashes when I try to rip a dvd. Now I have loaded IMTOO DVD to PSP on my computer at work - which does not have the full Windows updating as our company's IT control what is loaded and I have no problems with ripping dvds. But I just do not know why I cannot on my own computer even after rebooting, reloading my software and shutting off windows updates - however when I upgraded to Internet Explorer 7 I had to also had to install a spyware/malware detection programme - Microsoft would not let me download Internet Explorer 7 without it.

I have Windows XP Service Pack 2 with Media Centre. Could someone please help here. thanks. urban artist
