Unhappy MKV file format conversion to AVI

Last night I downloaded ImTOO MKV converter and used it to make the allowed 10 minutes conversion of a 1,527,966 KB HDTV.MKV file. It worked great, as I recall I set at high quality and was impressed with the image quality.

Today I decided to buy the product and looking at the bewildering range of packages decided to go for MPEG encoder platinum that said it included MKV converter.

Hopeless, the conversions of the same file on the same PC with the same player don't work.

Typical message is Codec not supported, I tried .AVI, DVX.AVI and MPEG4 with various stages of no go except audio.

I can play the files on the PC but video quality is not good.

I use WXP

Is it me or the program?

Re: MKV file format conversion to AVI

I did contact Support they said to reinstall the SW which at least allows me to use Xvid. avi format. Plain old .avi from MKV does not work however.

I did what I needed with Xvid, so the problem was not pressing. CCCP? not that I know of, do you have a link I could use.
