Text malware

Hello Group
I just want to know if there is malware that will just
surreptitiously change the text color of the files from black to
blue.?

This is happening in my PC and can't figure out what is going on.
Could somebody out there have similar experience and how did they were
able to sort it out.?
TIA

Changing the text color of file? What does that mean? That the
filename shown in Explorer is shown using a blue-colored font? You do
know Windows XP can compress files, right? The default color for
compressed files in Explorer is blue.

So do you have the disk cleanup wizard configured to run every so
often? Maybe it is compressing old folders that haven't been updated
in awhile.

what happen was the title of the files changed in colors from black to
blue. which is rathe weird
Indeed I have not compressed files for some time.
Do you mean that it was the cause of the weird file name color?

Just Lately
I had asked my brother who also used the pc if he decompressed the
files. which he admitted he did a few weeks ago but forget to tell me
about it.
Maybe the reason for the color change? Is there a way where I can
revert the color back to black?
This color change happen in many files but not all; say 50% of the
files names are in black while the other half are in blue color.
TIA

If they are compressed files, uncompress them. If they are compressed
folders then extract their contents. Blue is used for compressed
files. Black is for uncompressed files.

For help, use Start -> Help and Support. Search on "compressed".

I had asked if the disk cleanup wizard was executed because one of its
functions, if selected, is to compress old files.
