AVG 8 crashing Vista

Vista Home Premium.
Lots of problems.
Does not like Winamp (5531) on the same machine. Sometimes Winamp
kicks out AVG, sometimes AVG crashes everything while Winamp is running.
MSoft reported AVG problem and advised me to get the latest version, which
I have.

Sometimes I get a problem (without Winamp) when startup is very very slow,
leading to a desktop which is essentially crashed, or stalling where I think
I
have the logon screen but the monitor is blank.

In this last problem I switch off for a few minutes then restart normally,
and problem
does not recur within a day or so.

Anyone know if this has a virus or malware link?

What else are you running at startup? An anti spyware?

1st did you download the patch from Microsoft??
and B, the only time I have had a problem with AVG 8 is when I am installing
it on a machine with a memory resident virus infection.
After removing the hard drive and scanning the drive with another computer
and then reinstalling AVG on the original drive etc, the problems go away.
I have installed AVG 8 on 20+ PC's

Spybot S&D
