Anyone tried Windows 10 yet?

Hi all, I got myself a free copy of Windows 10 Technical Preview, been trying it out, haven't spent much time on it yet but so far it's very promising

https://insider.windows.com/

Thinking I might finally switch away from 7, they've incorporated a lot more of the good stuff from 7 into it this time.

Re: Anyone tried Windows 10 yet?

Have been running 10 on my lappy for a while now. 6 years old, 4GB DDR2, 2.2GHz Turion DC, 120GB SSD (old OCZ). Runs like a dream, apart from the occasional crash (I'm on the "fast" Insider update ring).

Firefox, Spotify and Steam all work as expected (although I haven't actually tried playing any games on it yet). Prey can't locate it but works otherwise. The built-in apps and features, so far, are really rather good IMO.

Re: Anyone tried Windows 10 yet?

Yep, I've been testing it on a VM from the first test release. IMO it's much better than Win8. I guess I can finally upgrade from Win7.

Re: Anyone tried Windows 10 yet?

Anyone else get this in their taskbar?

On the one hand it's nice that Microsoft are making upgrading very easy this time, but on the other hand it seems rather pushy of them to install this app on my computer without asking me first!

Re: Anyone tried Windows 10 yet?

I saw the "Get Win 10" app on my PC. Not sure yet if I would reserve it.
Since Win 10 works well to you guys, I think I'll take the reservation.
But I'll still backup the old Win 7 system just in case, cause never used Win 8 or Win 10 before. I remembered grabbing a easeus todo backup in a giveaway somewhere.
I think I'll need it now.

Re: Anyone tried Windows 10 yet?

Good idea backing everything up, also if you use OneDrive as a backup it's mighty convenient as ofc it's built-in to W10
