Now with exciting features hitting the web everyday, Microsoft unveils the powerful and simple hardware interface of Windows 7. With growing hardware and driver compatibility issues with Vista, Microsoft developers seems to have worked hard to a break through in Windows hardware management. In the Windows hardware developers conference, Microsoft released the Pre-beta copies of Windows 7 with the all new Device Stage hardware management console. In simple words the Device Stage is like a library of all the hardware attached to your machine, with a dedicated section for each hardware offering technical information, manual, driver downloads, online support links etc. etc. More over the functionalities offered by the device will also be accessible from this interface ( e.g. Managing text messages in your mobile phone). Take a look at the screen shot released by Microsoft. One thing crossed my mind while thinking of the probable cons of this new feature is the need of a set of new drivers which offers more access to the device by the OS. Also the hardware manufactures may need to provide in depth details of their hardware's specifications for getting Device Stage support, which may again lead to some hardware incompatibilities. The Device Stage is still in development and so stay tuned for more surprises! Yes, it's just amazing to see the out-of-the-box thinking from a new generation of Microsoft developers and with their help the buzz on Windows 7 heating up all over the web. __________________ Want to ask a question? I don't have many problems managing my Windows Mobile 6 smart phone in Vista. The only problems I had before with my Windows Mobile 2003 & 2005 PDA's was Microsoft thinking they needed to re-invent the wheel (or connection interface) to fix a few problems. As long as they leave me my own options to manage it myself instead of thinking I want to sync everything with one of Microsofts programs like Windows Media Player things will be fine.
