Re: (Help) Windows 7/Windows Vista
Officially Microsoft will not allow an upgrade from Beta versions to the RC (Release Candidates) and thus we can safely assume that the it will do the same when the final version is released. The RC setup will abort if it find a beta version or pre-RC version installed in your computer.
Quote:
The safest way to go now is stick with the Windows Vista installation. Windows 7 final will perform a seamless upgrade without losing any data or software. The only catch is that this Windows Vista (or XP) should be genuine and properly activated. More details here & here.

Re: (Help) Windows 7/Windows Vista
I would dual boot Windows 7 latest RC1 Build with the preinstalled Vista. This way it will give the op a bit more comparison and experience in both OS as to which he/she will decide to make a transition to depending on whichever OS he/she liked during the time of testing. Ok, in other words, I meant by is, install Windows 7's latest RC1 build (7250 is current latest) and dual boot it with Vista. Use both and choose whichever one is better (of course Windows 7) and when the retail comes out, you can delete Vista and maybe upgrade or do a clean install with the retail Windows 7. (P.S Always backup your data and files)
