Windows 7 install question - upgrade from OEM vista in HP Pavilion
I have an HP Pavilion running 64-bit Vista. I'm interested in upgrading to Wndows 7. The problem I have is that I don't have the original operating system to install some of the programs that came specific with this computer. The operating system and drivers are all on a recovery partition. I ordered a set of recovery discs from HP but cannot access some of the individual programs. Does Windows 7 make a 'OldWindows' folder like Vista does when you upgrade? I would like to do a fresh install but also want to install some the programs that came with my computer. Also is there a way to access individual programs off the recovery discs that I'm just not seeing? Thanks.

Re: Windows 7 install question
I recommend you to install Windows 7 in a differnet drive say D: rather than an upgrade of existing Vista. This way you can check the software and hardware compatibility & once you're comfortable with it can upgrade the vista.
Yes, like vista you can install it in a different folder like WindowsNew. And in Windows 7 most of the vista drivers will work without any problems. Regarding the applications in the recovery CD i'm not quite sure. Try exploring the CD for your softwares' setups. Anyway try out the Windows 7 upgrade advisor and see what it says. ![]() http://www.microsoft.com/windows/win...e-advisor.aspx |

Re: Windows 7 install question - upgrade from OEM vista in HP Pavilion
You can do a Factory Reset by formatting the Hard Drive and erasing the Recovery partitions and get a WIN 7 retail OS Disk from the store if u havent received any WIN 7 Upgrade Kit from Hp.......
