Windows 7

Angry interactive logon failed 64 bit only

Hi,
I recently bought a new asus laptop and after some issues with it i decided to format and clean install the OS. It came with windows 7 home premium 64-bit. I went out and bought windows 7 Pro 64bit and attempted an install. The installation went through smoothly til the end where i recieved the message "interactive logon has failed, please consult the event log ..." after this message it rebooted and attempted a start-up only to be met with a strange gray screen and then it reboots again.

Nothing else works like safe mode, or advanced boot options. Ive tried installing several times with with the same result.

Now whats weird is that when i install a 32-bit version of this theres no problems, except that its designed for a 64 and runs slowly.

So why would i be able to install a 32bit version of windows and not a 64 bit? Even though all the hardware is for a 64??

Re: interactive logon failed 64 bit only

Check the BIOS settings-there might be something to do with 64 bit stuff there.

Can you take a photo of your BIOS associated with 64bit setting and post them on here.

I am curious to way it is not working when you had Windows 7 64bit preinstalled and it worked fine before.

Perhaps that is why Someday I want to build my own System OEM computers are so limited when it comes to configurations to BIOS.

Re: interactive logon failed 64 bit only

I think you can get software to unlock/enable processor features (even extra cores sometimes), but its riskier than overclocking.

Re: interactive logon failed 64 bit only

I don't think there is any software to unlock features for my cpu for my system. This Emachine has an Intel Board with Celeron D cpu and ATI chip-sets lol. Which makes no sense to me. From experience I have only seen Intel boards with Intel chip-sets (OEM systems) and AMD CPU's with ATI or VIA chip-sets. Or maybe Intel boards with Nvidia Chip-sets
