System Clock Stoped While Machine is Powered Off

Hi,
I am using a AMD PC with Gigabyte Mother Board with Windows 7 OS.
I am facing the problem since 1 week. While I am turning off my PC the system clock stops with it. I have changed the CMOS Battery but it doesn't works. Please tell me what is the problem and how can I solve it...

Until you said you changed the battery I was positive that that was it. But if not:

-the battery contacts may be grubby/rusty, preventing electrical contact

-the BIOS chip may have a rather serious problem, but don't panic yet

-the new battery may be the incorrect type. What type is it, and are you certain that is correct?

Also, when you turn the computer back on, does the clock start again as if nothing happened, do you get an error message, has it reset to 00:00:00 01/01/2000 or anything like that? Does it correct itself?
