How to enable the "Fucntion" Key in Windows 8 - Toshiba l505-13t

How can I activate the function key on my Toshiba l505-13t ?

Function key on Toshiba is not working.

I can't turn on the wireless because the function key won't work.

The causes might be as follows:
  • The keyboard drivers are not installed properly.
  • FAST START feature is not allowing the same to activate.

Solution 1

Check your keyboard in device manager, and check whose drivers are installed. Microsoft sometimes installs STANDARD.
In Device Manager open Keyboards and right click on what ever is there:
Select Update Driver > Browse My Computer for Driver Software >
Let Me Pick From a List of Drivers.
Here you will see a list of different keyboard drivers already on your machine.
Hopefully yours will be there.

Solution 2
You can EXTRACT the Value Added or XP drivers to a folder like a zip file by right clicking on it?

You would probably need a program like WinRar, WinZip, 7Zip, or similar...I think 7Zip has a free version.

If you can, set the compatibility of SETUP and any other installer (application) you see in the folder(s). Not all installers can be extracted.
Sometimes this works better because setting compatibility on the installer PACKAGE, doesn't get the message to the installers INSIDE the package.

Solution 3
If you restart your machine, not shutting down, but Restart...does the problem go away? If so, try this.....
FAST START is a new feature that only works with a SHUTDOWN and REBOOT. For some reason, sometimes Fast Start loads to fast, and the drivers don't load or activate properly.
To disable FAST START, go to Control Panel and select Power Options.
On the left, select Choose What the Power Buttons Do.
Near the top of the screen select Change Settings That Are Currently Unavailable.
Near the bottom, uncheck Fast Start.

Solution 4
Check the wireless card drivers on the system?
You may try updating the latest version of the wireless card drivers in Windows 7 compatibility mode and check.
a. Right click on the driver setup file and select Properties.
b. Click the compatibility tab, tick the box next to Run this program in compatibility mode for and select Windows 7.

Solution 5
Try to go to your Network Connections now to turn it off or on. (Disable\Enable)
