Thunderbird - XP to Windows 8

Aloha all,

I now own a Lenovo IdeaPad running W8. I wish to migrate my Thunderbird -mail from my XP based ThinkPad. I read a discussion covering the process of moving from XP to W7, but it appears that W8 directory structure is different?

Any assistance is appreciated!

Try this :
  • Copy entire Thunderbird folder
    C:\Documents and Settings\userName\Application Data\Thunderbird
where userName is the name of the user of the XP system.
  • Now Install, BUT DO NOT RUN, Thunderbird in windows 7.
  • Copy the Thunderbird folder to the new user's application folder.
    For Win7 & 8, it would be:
  • C:\Users\userName\AppData\Roaming
  • Now Run Thunderbird.
