Vista update loop problem - Configuring updates Crash

OK, I have a vista ultimate machine which has come to the limit of it's hard drive capacity and is now stuck in an update loop cycle. It is one of those updates that needs to restart the machine and then carries on configuring the updates when it reboots. Trouble is as soon as it tries to carry on configuring the update it then says it's shutting down and then reboots again in a continuous cycle.
Does anyone know how to disable this update prior to windows booting up. It does not help with the fact that my C: drive is in a raid 0 array with 2 discs so I can't even access it in boot disc mode as the arrays won't boot up.

I would really appreciate any help or thoughts on this as I getting serous grief cause I stupidly have not backed up any documents for a while. If you need any more information for a solution then please pp me

THanks in advance all

THanks for the reply strider, Unfortunetly all of the F8 options seem to carry the update through so i can't even get to a log in screen. I need to be able to boot the 64-bit raid image and remove the update somehow without windows loading. Do you know of a 64-bit boot disc that would boot up a raid 0 array ?

Honesty I don't know. You may give Ubutu 64-bit a shot.

GOod idea strider - I'll try ubuntu. I'm also gonna try BartPE's boot CD with raid recovery.
