How to change Vista Language from French to English ?

Hiya,
In error Dell France delivered my new laptop with a french Vista. I live in France but don't speak enough of the lingo.
Vista edition is 64 bit home premium.
Having set everything else up I find I really can't manage with the french Vista and can't change the language so want to add an English version of Vista.
Will this wipe everything out. Is there another way. I've had murders with Dell and am about to throw puter through window :-( If I load new version do I have to uninstal old version first?
Be hugely grateful for your help.

Hi melinda,

You don't have to resinstall Windows Vista to change the languages. All you need to to go to the Control panel fidn the correct option and change it to English. If English is not listed there you can download English language pack from microsoft.com, install it and then switch to it.

Here is a few guides:

Quote:
1. Open Regional and Language Options by clicking the Start button , clicking Control Panel, clicking Clock, Language, and Region, and then clicking Regional and Language Options.

2. Click the Keyboards and Languages tab.

3. Under Display language, choose a language from the list, and then click OK.

Err.. You've Vista Home Premium right? Then you'll need to use the tool Vistalizator. It's a freeware and it just works!

Thanks I had tried this already but it only changes the regional time settings, not the basic language. I think its to do with the edition of Vista.
I'll look at the language pack though and see if that will help.
Thanks again,
Melinda

Re: How to change Vista Language from French to English ?

Hi thanks for this,
I have downloaded Vistalizator and then I downloaded the language pack..as instructed I did not open the file.
I went back toVistalizator and clicked add language, then I clicked on the language file. Vistalizator attempts to convert but then tells me ''Not a Vista language pack ! try another file'' There were three files in the language download and I get the same message with all three. Any ideas?
Melinda
