i think you can access with file://"youripaddress"/sharefoldername or a better way will be using a VPN

Help on setting VPN

Do you have access to an FTP server?

Re: windows file sharing over static ip

hi ,
i hope u have
1 .shared the folder containing the files by right clicking the folder u want to share and selecting sharing and security option.
2.give a share name to the folder.

3. from the client system right click my computer and click on search my computer . there u type in the ip address of the system u shared the folder on .
double click once u get the system ip
4. type in username & password
voila u should c the shared folder or else
go to start
run
type //ipaddress of the system whose folder is shared and follow step 4.

good luck

Re: windows file sharing over static ip

Install an FTP server on your OS, create username&password and give access for certain user on certain folder.
There are plenty of such software out there and it's very easy to install and administrate.
Good luck.

Re: windows file sharing over static ip

I was taking a look at Strider's FTP guide and saw that they refer there to the Serv-U FTP Server.
I remembered that I used it a couple of years ago and was very pleased with it.
Therefore I warmly recommend you to use this software, and by following the guide you will set it up in no time.
Good luck.
