two windows when starting up

hi,
when I switched on computer a window appear (from Bios I think) asking me which kind of Windows I want to use. Two names appear. If I click on the first one, the system is charged. If I click on the second one, it does not.
How can I eliminate that preliminary windows ? I have no CD inserted and when appearing the sign ASUS I pressed F2 and changed the boot from CD to HD. No results.

Re: two windows when starting up

Well, if its giving you a choice as to what OS you would want to load, it indicates that the system is detecting that 2 different OS is installed. It might be a glitch, that is, if you did not install a second HDD.

Before we try to correct the problem, I have some questions:
1. What happened with the system before this appeared? (i.e. did you update the OS, or install a program)
2. What are the choices that the computer is giving you?

Re: two windows when starting up

Dear Lucius1984,

You have installed two windows, and the second is not properly installed..
Follow the procedure: -
1) Go to My computer and right click properties
2) Go to advanced tab
3) Click on "setting" in the startup and recovery
4) Click the EDIT
5) Leave this part only

[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOW S
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Micro soft Windows XP Professional" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect

and delete the rest in the Notepad.
6) Save it and restart the computer and your problem is solved...

Welcome for discussion / suggestion

here the answers:

1) We loaded Windows Professional and before that we formatted the HD. The system asked us about partitions and we replied to leave two partitions: one big and the other small. A new disk (E appeared after windows loading. When we tried to eneter disk E: the first time, the system answered that disk E: has not been formatted. Then, I formatted disk E: but the problem of the two windows systems remained.

2) It gives me these choices:

Select the OS to run:
Microsoft windows XP professional
Microsoft windows XP professional

If I select first choice the OS is loaded. If I selected the second choise, the system reports an error and starts up again booting the system and after that asks for the choice.

Unbelievable !!.

Following your suggestions I have resolved my problem. The system does not ask anymore and directly loads the windows.

Thank you Atul484 and bloodwynd
