dell 8400
windows xp professional sp3 corp
4gm ram

AFTER OS BOOT UP AND LOGIN , SVCHOST STARTS USING CPU.

SVCHOST.EXE

DCOM LAUNCH
TERMINAL SVC

ntdll.dll rtlallocateheap+0x18c (using 80%-100% cpu)


ANYBODY KNOW WHATS CAUSING THIS, AND HOW TO STOP IT.

Dear bewise,

SVCHOST.exe is a system file, which many times Affected/changed by virus.
you should do a complete anti virus scanning with kaspersky antivirus 2010,

Pl. reply with the status of the scanning

computer is clean,scanned with with avira. no viurses, adware or spyware. a clean install.a few progs, nero 9, office 07, cyberlink powerdvd, acrobat 9, hallmark card studio, itunes, and hoyle board and puzzle games

Dear bewise,
Follow the procedure
1) Go to Run,
2) Type msconfig and enter
3) Select startup tab
4) Click Disable all , Then apply and ok
5) Restart the computer

Tried that already. i can go to the thread and stop it manually. with an good process viewer, but its acomputer that i'm working on for someone else. all the updates are done. its like a memory leak or something i would just wipe it clean and use a sp 2 and disable all updates, but the techie in me is forcing me to try to solve the problem before i do that.
