Re: Reset Windows XP system password

I'm not a "post and run" but I don't know how reliable my friend will be in trying your suggestions. I hope to get back to work now that my 15y, 9y and 5y olds will all be in school next yet. I'm rusty in computer skills but used to work for Anderson Consulting. The irony is a sad example of women who drop out of the work force to raise families.

Re: Reset Windows XP system password

* So you lost your Windows XP user password? You can try your best to remember XP account password, such as: your name? a loved one's birthday? something from your childhood? a pet's name?your home or office address?

Re: Reset Windows XP system password

To reset the password on Windows xp, you can do it like this:

Try to log into Safe Mode using built-in administrator account (hope you did not password protect it,), then reset your other password in safe mode as follows:
1. Click Start button, and select Run
2. Type "control userpasswords2"
3. Select account you want to reset password for and Change password on it

With all due respect, dear lady, I think this is a time for you to take a pass. Do you know for a fact that he's not trying to hack someone else's machine? I try to stay far away from "Gee, I lost my password - how do I change it?". Also, his message doesn't specify if it's a user, or admin, or hardware (BIOS) boot password, so trying to answer is something of a crapshoot, and I wouldn't anyway.
