System restore error

Hello,
I have been experiencing problems with a webcam that doesn t work well (logitech c525 freezings) so I decided to upgrade some drivers on my laptop (inspiron Dell 1720) that was before working perfectly. So after doing that, I notice some framrate loss in 3D game and decided to do a system restore to fix that problem. When the system restore was doing his stuff , it seems to get stuck. I then get a message error wich I don t remember because I was forced to reboot (It was telling me to make some space in the drive). After this reboot and back to the desktop , I take a look to the hdd and noticed it was 13 gigs of free space...So I decided to redo system restore and found that it was no longer possible.I get first a "iertutill.dll missing file error" so I download this file and copy it in system32 after that, when I reopen system restore I get the "ordinal 313 missing file error".If I clic ok and eventually access system restore , there is no more points visible in it, it s empty and I can t do anything...
I'm running xp pro 2002 sp3...Can someone help me , I feel lost
ps: my english is so so...hope it s understandable.

Re: System restore error

I'm afraid the easiest way to fix a broken system restore is probably to just reinstall Windows. Hang on a bit though, someone else ought to be able to suggest something else

Re: System restore error

Yes , I m allready saving my datas and preparing to reinstall xp.My windows was needing reorganisation , so it s going to be a good opportunity to do it...I will never do changes to drivers anymore in a well working pc, it seem to often be worst. And who knows, perhaps my webcam will work well with the clean xp install from scratch...hope so ^^

Re: System restore error

All sorted then. Yes, it's usually best to leave drivers alone but do update them if it gives you a reminder or whatever.

Re: System restore error

Before having a go at dual-booting I would suggest having a good look through this thread: http://www.techtalkz.com/windows-7/5...dual-boot.html

Re: System restore error

Upgrade your PC with the latest Windows like 7 or 8. IF you are going to format, install the latest OS.
