Re: foder taking long to open

Several possibilities:
1. You have the Power Control settings set up to turn off the hard drive after an idle period. You would have to wait for it to spin up for the folder to open.

2. You are using Western Digital drives that automatically spin down after an idle period. Again you have to wait for them to spin up again for access.

3. You have a worm that eats the bits as they come off the drive. You have to fill him up before you can access the drive. Just kidding - I think.

I have a similar problem with Thunderbird. When I ask it to reply to an email, it takes almost 30 seconds for the composition window to open the first time. Subsequent openings are instant. Haven't solved that one yet. Windows 7/64 All power control turned off.

I know it usually doesn't glean much, but for the principle of the thing:

@Sanjeev, can we have some specs on your computer?
-CPU model, no. of cores and frequency?
-RAM type, quantity and frequency?
-some info on your hard drive(s)
-and anything else you can tell us, e.g. mobo etc
