can't type on pc

I have Windows XP version 5.1 and Office Word; As support for this has ended, I no longer use internet on it.
However, since just recently, I can no longer type anything! Not on a blank word document, not on any previous documents; I can't rename documents or anything! Any help?

Well, besides checking to make sure the keyboard is plugged in, and considering also the possibility that the keyboard itself has stopped working , I'd find my way to Device Manager and check the keyboard section. Your keyboard should be named there. If there's a yellow question mark (or exclamation mark) next to it, that would be a good clue. You might also borrow/buy another keyboard and see if it works.

If you have a laptop then some of this doesn't apply. You could still get a USB keyboard and see if it works.

BTW, I've been using unsupported Windows 2000 for about 8 years, and am slowly shifting to WinXP which I plan on using for many years to come. I still get up in the morning and brush my teeth, and my house hasn't burned down. My antivirus programs are all set to manual operation or turned off. So I guess there is a way to use an unsupported OS.
