Bluetooth Peripheral Device Drivers in Vista Home Basic

Hi

I have a Compaq Presario V3239 with OEM version of Vista Home Basic. I tried connecting my smart phone which is Nokia N70 via bluetooth. It was successful. However it tries to install device drivers for Bluetooth peripheral devices each time I boot. But the drivers are not installed

I am not sure what exactly it is searching for. As far as the connectivity with my phone is concerned it is perfect. I even transferrd data from phone to laptop. but in My Computer> Device Manager, there is a listing under Other Devices. The listing is Bluetooth Peripheral Device. And it shows that this particular device is not installed properly.

Any ideas

It could be PAN or DUN, especially if you have these features enabled on your phone... I had a similar problem and I did not need DUN, I was able to tun off this feature in my Bluetooth settings.
It also depends on what Bluetooth stack you are using.. I have found that the BT drivers that are usually supplied by dongle or pc manufacturer tend to be outdated.. you may want to check to see if there is an update.
Bluetooth is far from an exact science at the moment, and although the industry is working towards better standards they are still pretty far off the mark. I can't even begin to tell you how many probs I have had finding the right stack.. and getting my peripherals all working.

Hey Guys....Got it working....Just selected the option "Install Drivers from Specified Location" and then gave the location as C:\Windows. My machine got all that it required. Thanks for all your replies
