Program requires 3MB Free virtual memory - Changing the Virtual Memmory size in Win

I ave a children"s software which I installed ok. But while I execute the software I get a dialog box saying "this programme requires 3MB of free virtual memory".According to my system info I have 2.8 MB.What I should do to increse the virtual memory to run the programme?

I hope you are having Windows XP installed in your coputer. Follow the following steps to increase the virtual memory of your system :

1. Go to Control Panel & double click on System.

2. Navigate to Advanced Tab & click on the Settings in the Performance section.

3. The Performance Options dialog box now opens. Navigate to Advanced tab here. You can now view the Virtual Memory setting as shown below.


4. Click on Change. Choose a drive with some free space & Select the Custom Size: radio button.

5. Enter the Initial Size: & Maximum size:, same values in both the boxes. An amount two times your RAM size is the ideal value.



6.Click Set & Press ok to exit. Restart your computer for the change to take effect.

2.8 free VM in XP ?? ow much memory have u allocated ?

Thanks Ihave followed the instruction and now I am able to use the software.
As for Bakuryu query I have 1GB memory installed.I am posting the memory details.Have I answered the query ok?

HE asked have much you had allocated before. By now you had definitely increased the Virtual Memory.

BUt 2.8mb was really strange allocation in XP
