I have a mental block on this if anyone can helpme out.
I have a need to create two seperate images with differing application stacks. Due to the amount of apps in each variant I'd like to add a wizard page to the WinPE stage to ask if it's an A or B build. Then branch off in the task sequencer and do the app installs for whatever build. I can then capture image A or B and not have to worry about the build engineer picking the right apps. I know I can do this with two builds, but ideally I don't want to have to maintain 2 builds. I'd like a single build with a branching mechanism. But, I can't seem to engage the grey matter to figure this out at all. Can anyone help?? Thanks in advance, Mike...

Re: MDT Custom Wizard
In the task sequence, create two folders to store the tasks for the different application installs. Then use the conditions properties on the 'Options' tab of the folders to create a query to distinquish the 2 different builds.
Couple of ways... * Name the machines differently, and use Task Sequence Variable condition * Use different make or model, and use Query WMI |

Re: MDT Custom Wizard
Thanks for the advice.
Since posting I've actually found a way, but I have to admit naming the computer would be a quick and dirty way around it. If it were my MDT setup then I would probably opt for something like that, but I have to leave this for a customer to maintain. I can't guarantee that someone will do that moving forward. I've actually done it by adding a custom page into the wizard at the start, that sets a variable and then I use a couple of folder/groups with a query for each of the app sets. Thanks Mike... |
