MDT 2008 and Windows XP SP3
Hi
I am trying to deploy Windows XP SP3 through Microsoft Deployment 2008. I have done a installation of Windows XP, updated it and resealed it with sysprep (With the latest sysprep version for XP SP3) and then captured it through PXE. Now I would like to deploy it but first I would like to create an answer file so that the computers are added to our domain, but I am having trouble figuring out how to create the answer file. When I select the image in Windows Deployment Services and want to add the answer file I can see it has to be a .XML file, but isn't that only for Vista? I tried adding my captured WIM file to the System Image Manager but it return an error and closes the program but again isn't it only for Vista? So to make a long story short, how do I create an answer file for Windows XP so it can be used with WDS and my WIM image? Looking forward to your solutions :-) /Lasse |

RE: MDT 2008 and Windows XP SP3
You don't need to make any changes to the WDS setup apart from add your lite
touch boot wim created from MDT. When you say captured through PXE, what do you mean? For creating your answer file, just do this when you select the task sequence, you have the option of making both sysprep.inf and unattend.txt changes. But you will need to do these for your task sequence that builds your reference image prior to capture with XP as you can't inject into an XP WIM after its been captured. Hope that helps Ian "Lasse" wrote: > Hi > > I am trying to deploy Windows XP SP3 through Microsoft Deployment 2008.
