| I have the same Kerberos problem right out of the box with a new DELL XPS M1730. 2.2ghz dual core CPU 4gb ram. Running Vista Home Premium and loaded with Microsoft Office Ultimate. Been to DELL who say reload the factory image from the DELL partition....done that.....Formatted the hard drive as part of the process back to squeeky clean Vista HP....first thing it does when it's reborn is go to microsoft update and download the 430mb that is SP1...back to square one with my //http 15016 (Kerberos etc).......Scenario 2 ...go to microsoft support online........tell them the config and they tell me they have never heard of Kerberos...i tell em it came with SP1 and then they go away and find it and ask me question about what domain i'm connected to and i say it's just a standalone home pc that connects to internet via broadband connection. You can safely ignore the error comes the reply....no i can't say i.......my machine hangs every day just past password entry and i have to power off....reboot in safe mode....shutdown.....reboot normally....then it works...then i work.....i shutdown properly when i've finished.......next day.........Groundhog day ! Looking on the tinterweb some people say when in safe mode the last .exe is CRCDISK.EXE and some say this is the problem.......not convinced........i've tried the regedit scenario and disabling the event that causes the error message to be recorded in the event log......fine....machine still freezes though......Kerberos is a piece of software that authenticates single sign on and passes details to other pieces of interacting s/w as aa SSO process would do. Microsoft told me that if it isn't part of blah blah 2008 then it's not part of vista which is what vista was founded on......Doesn't help us though does it ! ...........Microsoft 7 Beta anyone ? -- Jonince ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Jonince's Profile: http://forums.techarena.in/members/jonince.htm View this thread: http://forums.techarena.in/vista-help/923898.htm http://forums.techarena.in |

| I did get rid of it time ago via a simple registry edit as follows: Open the Event and click Details. Then click on XLM. Copy the GUID - Example {7b6bc78c-898b-4170-bbf8-1a469ea43fc5} Open RegEdit highlight Computer, go to Edit > Find and paste the GUID. Just as shown the the example above. Regedit will display HKey_Local_Machine\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\WINEVT\Publishers\{7b6bc78c-898b-4170-bbf8-1a469ea43fc5} On the right hand side, open the Enabled (Reg_DWord) and change the 1 to 0 Reboot.
