| Getting a message trying to install vs_setup.ms_. The windows installer creates a package folder (example 5210a16340f87ecdab318b) then extracts the Net Framework 3.5 SP1 to the folder. All good. But when the installer tries to access the folder, it is denied access by the server (Windows Server 2008 sp2). The drive is raid 1, looks good from a physical standpoint. What could be wrong (seems like permissions) that the NET Framework installer would create a folder and then be denied access. Using a service account to install with local admin privelege... do I need to be the local admin, the domain admin? to install? -- Regards, Jamie |

| I have downloaded Windows6.0-KB942288-v2-x64.msu and it is truly a curious item to install. When it runs, it launches Nero Smart Essentials and finishes once Smart Essential has launched. Is this some kind of virus or just another one of those surprises from Nero (v 7)? WindowsUpdate_00000663" "WindowsUpdate_dt000 This is a related error which appears from running Windows Update for SP1 of Net Framework 3.5. Platform is Windows Server 2008 SP2. 4G RAM. Dual processor, two raid drives C:/ and F:/ Server is part of domain and not a DC. Primary purpose is SQL Server which appears to require .NET Framework to run thus the continued failures and surprises listed here. -- Regards, Jamie "thejamie" wrote: > Getting a message trying to install vs_setup.ms_. The problem here may lie in the face that you need to log in as the DOMAIN ADMIN if this server is a member server in a domain. Try installing the package as a user with Domain Admin privs and let us know if that helps. |

| I have similar problem on similar raided server, but with Server 2003 (not a DC). Same appcompat {CE2CDD62-0124-36CA-84D3-9F4DCF5C5BD9}. Used Domain Admin. Was a solution found?
