This is an adware type of trojan that annoyingly keeps up opening blank
pages at unexpected times while I am using my browser. In my case I use
Google Chrome but I believe it attaches itself to other broswers too.

It does not seem to be malicious but it is annoying nevertheless. Any
others out there who have had this problem? And how did they get rid of it?

I checked to see if there was a program on my Windows 7 64 bit machine
that I could uninstall to get rid of this nuissance but no luck. Tried 3
different malware programs to remove or disable it but again to no avail.

This seems to correspond to a question you asked on July 21.

It could have the same root cause, and simply was downloaded
as the "next pest" by updatetask.

http://productforums.google.com/foru...me/wMrC_eg8_Tw

"Check this location...
C:\Users\YOURUSERNAME\AppData\Roaming\DSite\Update Proc\UpdateTask.exe
"

"I can confirm that dsite obviously is the problem. After deleting
the Dsite-files from AppData and Tasks and cleaning the registry
the problem seems not to exist any more.
"

That doesn't prove we know the root cause, but it still gives
a direction to keep searching in.

Thanks Paul.

Just dried your ADW Cleaner. Let's hope it's done the trick. I won't be
sure for a day or two as this thing just crops up with a blank web page
haphazardly.

Earlier I had tried KiS (Kaspersky Internet Security), Malwarebytes,
SuperAntiSpyware as well as Spybot, all to no available. Keeping my
fingers crossed.

Will let you know in a few days IF it doesn't crop up unexpactedly again.

Paul, glad to report that I haven't noticed any long or short fin tunas
since trying ADW Cleaner. Thought I owed this reply to you just to keep
both you and the others informed. Thanks.--
