Why Use Windows LIve OneCare?
I am planning to purchase a new Dell computer next month with Vista Business
and am trying to get an overall understanding of the various programs from MS that can be added to Vista. I probably will go with Windows Live Mail. However, I am having difficulty understanding what Windows Live OneCare will do for my new computer other than the Anti-Virus protection. As I understand it, Vista Business already comes with a firewall, malware, and backup and restore programs. I would very much appreciate an explanation for this Vista to be newbie owner as to what advantages Windows Live OneCare would provide to a computer. Also, would appreciate any comments as to how effective the Anti-Virus program in Windows Live OneCare is compared to third party programs such as NOD32, etc. Thanks, Sam. |

Sam: I've been using Windows Live OneCare since it was in beta. The biggest advantage is that you buy one license and you can use it on 3 PC's. Not only very effective, but affordable as well. And with a built in maintenance scheduler, the automation of weekly tasks is so much easier. I highly recommend it. -- .Joe _[image: http://uswave.net/vistax64/joetmvx64.png] (\"http://www.vistax64.com/index.php?referrerid=17621\")_ _*::Click_here_for_the_Vista_Forums::* (\"http://www.vistax64.com/index.php?referrerid=17621\")_ _Geekbench_Score:_4050 (\"http://browse.geekbench.ca/geekbench2/view/42901\")_ _CPU-Z_Verified (\"http://valid.x86-secret.com/show_oc.php?id=323179\")_ |

Re: Why Use Windows LIve OneCare?
"One Care is really bad on Vista. It duplicates lots of the functionality (eg backups) and just makes the whole Vista experience even more crappy and disappointing than it already is. OnceCare was designed for XP. It is a mess on Vista. |
