Re: kids & passwords
Is there another account available on the machine. Try safe mode, logon as the administrator which will probably have no password then reset the kid's password. -- fuzor_silverbolt -----------My Rig----------- Manufacturer: Dell Inc. Re: kids & passwords
Sorry about that I forgot that vista disabled administrator account by default. You'd need to logon to another account just to enable administrator in vista. So if the kids are the only account normally available on the machine there isn't much that can be done other than doing a system recovery. If there is data on the machine that needs to be recovered, you can probably remove the hard drive and slave it up to a USB convertor to a working computer to copy the files to a working system before reinstalling the operating system. As far as hacking passwords, don't try it because the websites normally associated with windows password hacking with load your computer up with viruses and spyware. I'm personally appaled that someone from live onecare would even mention the word hacking let alone recommend trying to circumvent security put in place in microsoft. So don't listen to StephenB, apparently he doesn't care about you or any of your computers and doesn't know what he's talking about. Because if he did, he'd provide a link to a trusted source to purchase such software. Steer clear of websites with any hacking tools, they only cause problems and may potentially compromise your system. I've done computer repair for over ten years and I haven't found any password hacking software for windows NTFS that work well, they either have viruses and don't work or they only work sometimes and often ruin the registry. If this is getting out of hand for you, and you need pictures or whatnot recovered; I recommend contacting a knowledgeable computer repair service. Best buy and other francises that are large usually give crappy service so choose a small local repair shop that will give you personalized service. -- fuzor_silverbolt -----------My Rig----------- Manufacturer: Dell Inc.
