Live ID: Security
Having recently grumbled about my sign-in with a Live ID when using WLMail
not being valid for other Live sites, I've now come across an issue at the other end of the scale. Try this: (1) Set up a shared folder on SkyDrive (2) Share it with yourself using another Hotmail/MSN/Live ID (3) Accept the invitation when it arrives and view the files in the shared folder (4) Send a shortcut to the page to your desktop (in IE: right-click and select Create shortcut) (5) Reboot (6) Click the shortcut (7) When the shared folder opens, click the Hotmail button. This is what I did, and I found I was already logged in to Hotmail. Very convenient, but way off the mark considering all the hoops MS have jumped through to make this sort of thing impossible for ordinary users. I haven't tested this scenario at all, so I don't know how far this sign-in extends, but I thought it would be interesting to hear if others can reproduce the behaviour. -- Noel |
