Video being clipped to 4:3

Hi All,

I am running WMP Ver. 9.00.00.3354 on W2K and have a problem playing videos
that do not have a 4:3 aspect ratio - the video is being clipped to a 4:3
window. I first noticed when trying to play .mpg files that have been
converted from .flv format. At first I thought that this was due to the video
being clipped as part of the conversion process and on further investigation
found this was true for all .avi and .mpg files (not just converted ones).
However, the files play perfectly well using DVDStation (a front end for my
Holywood Plus MPEG decoder and TV out card). I deduce from this that this is
a codec problem since I assume that DVDStation doesn't use them as the
decoding is done by hardware.

Unfortuately, DVDStation does not play .avi and whilst individual files can
be opened and played within the app., it does not allow file associations to
be made so that I can double click in explore.

Has anybody any ideas or am I just being stupid and this is normal for WMP 9?

Cheers, BuddyToBud
