Video Clipping

Hi all,

Firstly, sorry if this is a repeat post - this is the third time I've tried
posting this question but it doesn't appear to have got through. But it might
be like a bus - none for ages then 3 come along together.

I am running WMP Ver. 9.00.00.3354 on W2K and have noticed that any video
that does not have a 4:3 aspect ratio is clipped to a 4:3 window. I first
noticed this when trying to play .flv files that have been converted to .mpg
or .avi. At first I thought that they were being clipped as part of the
conversion process but the files play correctly using DVDStation (a front end
for my Holywood Plus MPEG decoder with TV out card). From this, I deduce that
this must be a codec problem since DVDStation wouldn't need to use them as
decoding is done by hardware.

Unfortunately, although I can open individual files from within the
application, it does not support .avi files, playlists or allow file
associations so that files can be double clicked in Explorer.

As far as I know, I have all the latest updates and codecs - can anyone help?

Cheers, BuddyToBud
