Interesting problem with WMP 11 and Vista
I don't know if I'm the only one that has experienced this but here's what
I'm experiencing. When I run WMP 11 on Window Vista (Home Premium) 1) It takes a very long time to start up and 2) this is the REALLY WEIRD one.... when I am playing a list of MP3s it pauses in between each one of them for a substantial amount of time and while it is pausing I see it indicating that the "Media Is Changing" and these are the same MP3s that would play flawlessly in WMP 10. I have tried searching on Microsoft's Technical Knowledgebase concerning this behavior but it appears that no one else has experienced this or at least not reported it. Has anyone else dealt with this type of behavior?? I'm pulling my hair out (and using WinAmp instead) Save me from myself Dano |

Re: Interesting problem with WMP 11 and Vista
Hi Dano,
Thank you for posting this - I thought I was going mad and it was just me! Sorry I can't help much except to state that you're not alone - this is happening to me too - WMP11 & Vista Home Premium - very slow startup - pausing at what seems to be 20s before the end of each track regardless of track length when playing more than 1! Seems like it's searching for the next track and getting its knickers knotted, cos doesn't happen if playing a single track!! Have also been trawling help groups for assistance, but you're the first one I've seen with the same problem. Have tried uninstalling all other media software & other 3rd party codecs, all to no avail!!!! Have tried ripping CD to WMA format in case MP3 issue, but same happened there! Have tried increasing buffer to ridiculous length to see if that would help - again no change. Grrrrrr!!! Can play the media in other than WMP with no problem - can sync & play on mobile device no problem - so frustrating! So like you, I just don't bother with WMP anymore. YOU ARE NOT ALONE! Anyone else getting the same? Or any suggestions? David. Re: Interesting problem with WMP 11 and Vista -Solution!
Dano,
I have SigmaTel High Def Audio Codec installed & eventually, I've found a solution that works for me. Go to control panel, open sounds, open the properties for Speakers/Headphones, go to the enhancements tab and select the disable all enhancements check box. I've just done it, and the stutters are gone! Hope this helps Regards David. "David I.
