WMP11 - Fails to enable media sharing on Windows XP
I'm trying to enable media sharing from WMP11. The media sharing dialog
presents itself, whereby I select to "Share my media", hit OK - and then no reponse and I return to the same dialog as if I had not done anything. I've checked the Event Viewer and it records a system error (Event ID: 7001) - "The WMP Network Sharing Service service depends on the UPNP Device Host service which failed to start because of the error: %%0" I've tried to manually start the UPNPhost service but it starts and then stops immediately. Any help would be appreciated. |

Are the HTTP SSL and SSDP Discovery services functional/running? -- Speaking for myself only. See for some helpful WMP info. RE: WMP11 - Fails to enable media sharing on Windows XP
I am having the same problem. All of the dependencies are running fine, and
I have checked the permissions, but when you try to start the upnp service, it says that it was started and then stopped because it didn't have anything to do. I have scoured the internet for a week and tried just about about everything I can think of to fix this without any luck. There seems to be plenty of people with the same problem, but not many answers... "Lum" wrote: > I'm trying to enable media sharing from WMP11. RE: WMP11 - Fails to enable media sharing on Windows XP
Folks, had exactly the same problem - a quick check of my services revealed
my WMP Network Sharing service was disabled. I set that to auto, enabled it, and BINGO. I can now share. I hope this helps. "mdb" wrote: > I am having the same problem.
