auto sync

When I hook up my Zen V Plus MP3 player to my computer it automatically opens
and syncs with my Windows Media Player 11. I have gone to the device settings
to change it so it won't do that but the option box is already unchecked and
set not to auto sync. The option boxes in settings are also grayed out so I
can't make any other changes even if I want to. How do I get Media Player not
to auto sync when I connect the MP3 player?
