WMP plays AVI file as a still picture
OS: Windows XP SP2, WMP 10, then 11, same problem. Gspot says it has correct
CODEC Here is the real kicker: The same video works fine on my Vista WMP 11 and on my VMware workstation Windows XP WMP 9. I thought maybe that the CODEC was missing from her version 10, so I upgraded it to WMP 11. While still logged in as administrator, I played the video just fine. Logged out, had the user log in, same result as before for her - still image. I tried making her an administrator and playing the file, still not playing. I reinstalled WMP 11as her and tried it again, same result. Logged her out logged in as administrator and it played fine. Today, I removed all of the profile stuff for media player from her profile (C:\Docs & Settings\username\Application Data\Microsoft\Windows Media\*.* and C:\Docs & Settings\username\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Windows Media\*.*. There is no change in the problem. Are there any other configuration files or user-specific registry entries that might be causing this problem? |

Re: WMP plays AVI file as a still picture
Turns out that installing for a third time fixed it. Go figure!
