Unable to play stream video on windows media player (vista)
Hi, I have windows vista home premiums with wmp11 in it. Updates set to
automatic and everything else to recomended settings. The point is I was able to watch Netflix videos before SP1 was installed and now I am no longer able to do so. Netflix support said there is something wrong with my wmp. HP, the manufacturer is unable to help and has taken the short cut advising me to restore the system to factory settings (those guys are so smart, aren`t they?). Anyway, I tested my wmp using this link: The extensions .asx and .asf are set to run under wmp. IE7 was previously reset too. I've checked a number of issues, including settings on wmp and IE7 but none seem to make my system go back to normal. I even tried the VistaWMPFix.reg from microsoft. According to my findings Windows Vista made things worse because now I cannot uninstall and reinstall wmp. It seems I am left with restoring the whole thing meaning reinstalling all my software, only because a single issue with wmp. That isn't smart either. Does anybody else had the same problem and managed to fix going around a full factory setting restore? Thank you. |
