Windows media player 11 - Missing codec
Every time I try to play a music appears to me a message saying that the WMP
can not play it because one audio codec is missing.
I don't have the internet conected to my computer and my only chance to
solve this problem is to download the codec from the web through another PC
with internet, to install the codecs later on my PC.
I already dowloaded several codecs but the problem persists because I don't
know what's the missing codec.
I would appreciate any information on how to find the codecs for the WMP 11
and how to solve this matter.

Re: Windows media player 11 - Missing codec
1) if you want to know codec for particular media file you may use
GSpot utility for example:
2) if you don't want to face troubles again and again with WMP and codecs
(including the fact that your computer doesn't have Internet connection and
in addition as MS states many codecs are not compatible with WMP anyway)
use VLC media player (download it from the same free-codecs site)
It is much better player then WMP (any version), it plays practically any
media existing out there, and most important for you - it does not need
codecs to be downloaded.
3) if you still want to manage codecs download Media Player Classic and
K-Lite Codec Pack (the same site). Even if you will use not Full but
Standard version of this Pack it most likely be enough for at least a year
before you will need to add/update codecs. And again Player Classic is way
batter player then WMP.
I hope you will solve your problem (I would go with VLC on "disconnected"
