| Guest Posts: n/a | Webcams & Flash Drive A suggestion for the developers/marketers of Windows Mobile, would be: - All standard application to have an "EXIT" button. I see there is only one way to close down opened applications in Windows Mobile 5.0 and that is by opening the task manager and "killing" the applications. - The ability to turn your SmartPhone into a Webcam. This would enable video comms on MS Windows computers. - The ability to run the storage system on the SmartPhone as a USB flash drive/disk/key. If ActiveSync then worked via BlueTooth, you would have a bluetooth enabled webcam, flash drive and internet connection in your pocket!!!!! There are software products that do this, but these applications are not generally supported by Microsoft and therefore do not either work reliably or with standard interfaces. Unless I am wrong, and microsoft does provide all of this in Windows Mobile 5.0? |

| Guest Posts: n/a | Re: Webcams & Flash Drive Item 1: this is a very old discussion between this community and Microsoft, aging from the first days of the PocketPC with its X button that only minimizes the program. The developers of Windows Mobile believe that the OS is the one to be responsible for closing programs when needed, and every application that is open should stay open until the OS needs the memory being used by it. I personally had a lot of discussions on this issue regarding the Pocket PC, but until now it is working nicely for me with a Smartphone, probably because of the fact that I use less applications there. Item 2: good idea, and there are already some third-party software implementing that. Item 3: this is also a good one, and there are also third party software that can do it. I think I have even seen some new phones that implement that from the factory. -- ---- Helio Diamant MS-MVP/Mobile Devices Editor - PocketPCFreak.com "Joe" <> wrote in message news:... >A suggestion for the developers/marketers of Windows Mobile, would be: > - All standard application to have an "EXIT" button.
